OFA Level 1 (Workplace for BC)

This EMP Canada - MEDIC FIRST AID course is an Adult Care oriented program for employers looking for a quality one day first aid course that meets the requirements for WorkSafeBC. It is occupationally oriented and applies the same priorities of care and approach used by professionals where a primary assessment, CPR, choking and other important skills are integrated.

Marine Basic First Aid

This Canadian Red Cross course is ideal for employees in the marine / fishing industry.

It meets Transport Canada Training Program Standards in Marine First Aid (TP 13008E) as well as federal and provincial regulations for Standard First Aid and CPR.

CPR RENEWAL

This refresher course is for people that hold a current certification for CPR Level 'B' and 'C'. This course covers all age groups.

Emphasis is also placed on personal protection including using pocket masks for rescue breathing.

This program is also offered in conjunction with the Standard First Aid Renewal Course .

Standard & CPR 'C' / AED

This course meet the requirements for those who study in the health sciences (i.e. Nursing, Medicine, Dentistry, Chiropractic, Rehabilitation, Resident Care Attendant, Etc.) It is a program in the development of the Primary and Secondary Essential Skills of Patient Care.

Standard & CPR 'C' / AED RENEWAL

This refresher course is for people who hold a current Standard CPR Level 'C' or an equivalent recognized qualification.

Emergency Childcare (Pediatric)

This EMP Canada - MEDIC FIRST AID® course is ideal for those studying in the child sciences programs, daycare workers, parents, and grandparents. It meets all the requirements for First Aid and CPR training in a daycare setting and is recognized by the Provincial Child Care Licensing Board of British Columbia.

OFA Level 3 (EMP Advanced Level 3)

Do you want a better bang for your buck?  This program has achieved recognition in every province across Canada. It covers the same material as per the WorkSafe BC OFA Level 3 course and includes the following additional certifications:

  • infant / child CPR [1 & 2 rescuer], artificial respiration, and choking
  • pregnancy / childbirth interventions
  • blood borne pathogens 
  • Automated External Defibrillation  (AED)
  • monitoring blood pressure
  • multiple casualty management

OFA Level 2 (EMP Advanced Level 2)

This program is equivalent to the WorkSafeBC Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 2. Material covered in this 38 hour program is designed for First Aid attendants providing care at worksites that are less than 20 minutes from a hospital or as required by WorkSafeBC.

Health Care Provider CPR RENEWAL

This course is designed for Physicians, Nurses, Paramedics, and Allied Healthcare Providers – RT, OT, PT.

It includes all levels of CPR, choking interventions, artificial respiration, pulse checks and use of a Bag-Valve-Mask (BVM)
 

Transport Endorsement

This program is equivalent to the WorkSafe BC Occupational Transport Endorsement Course. Material covered in this 8 hour program is designed for First Aid attendants providing care at worksites that are more than 20 minutes from a hospital, or as required by WorkSafe BC.

Oxygen Supplement

This program will provide the skills and knowledge needed to safely and effectively administer emergency oxygen to a patient.

Core material will include:

CPR Level C & AED (Adult, Child & Infant)

This program is nationally recognized and covers the procedures for life-threatening conditions to all age groups.

Emphasis is also placed on personal protection including using pocket masks for rescue breathing.

This program is also offered in conjunction with the Standard First Aid Course.

First Aid & CPR Instructor

Standard CPR "C" & AED

This Canadian Red Cross course is ideal for those who study in the health sciences (i.e. Nursing, Medicine, Dentistry, Chiropractic, Rehabilitation, Resident Care Attendant, etc.)

Automated External Defibrillator & CPR 'C'

"The message is clear. Public access to defibrillation works."

Non-medical personnel trained to use an AED can increase survival rates for people suffering a cardiac arrest. This hands-on program can be used with any AED that is currently in service. It deals with the application of an AED in conjunction with CPR to increase the chances of survival.

Emergency (Basic) First Aid

This course is ideal for government agencies and businesses who need to meet the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for first aid training. It is a course in emergency care where CPR and other important Emergency Care Skills are combined and allows the student to function with one consistent set of priorities in a medical emergency. Emphasis is also placed on personal protection including using pocket masks for rescue breathing.

Care Initiator

The idea of the Care Initiator course is to begin patient care until a person who is trained to a higher level arrives and assumes control of the situation. This course is the basis for all other programs offered. It is designed to train the student only in the Essential Skills of Primary Care. Students learn the skills of patient care in the same sequence they are actually used. Emphasis is placed on the effective use of Barriers and Personal Protection in all situations.

Automated External Defibrillator (AED) RENEWAL

This course is for people who are current with their AED and CPR Level "B" or "C" certificate and who only need to update their skills.

Adult Care

 

This MEDIC FIRST AID® program is designed for Adult Care professionals working in care facilities or home support. It has been recognized by the Ministry of Health and provides two certifications on successful completion: Workplace for BC (WorkSafeBC OFA Level 1) and Adult Care. Emphasis is also placed on personal protection including using pocket masks for rescue breathing.
