Course Length: 16 hours
This course expands the knowledge of a OFA level 1 attendant by allowing the employer to provide better coverage to their employees.
Students will be able to identify and perform appropriate interventions for:
- respiratory problems
- control of bleeding
- fractures
- C-Spine control
- minor soft tissue injuries
- CPR - Adult, Children & Infants
- introduction to the AED
- how the AED determines a shockable rhythm
- protocols to allow the rescuer to deliver a shock
- built-in safety features
- troubleshooting
- different situations for using an AED
- choking management
- burns
- shock
- asthma
- diabetes
- stroke
- heat & cold related injuries
- additional specific first aid topics on illness and injuries
They will also learn how to correctly fill out the required paperwork for WorkSafe BC.
Three certificates are issued on successful completion:
- Standard - Basic Plus; and
- CPR Level'C'/ AED
- Workplace for BC Level 1 (OFA 1)
Pre-requisites:
- Minimum 16 years old
- 1 piece of picture ID is required in order to take the course
