Course Length: 8 hours
Certification: 3 years

This refresher course is for people who hold a current Standard Basic Plus & CPR Level 'C' or an equivalent recognized qualification.
It reviews:
- primary assessment
- choking management
- CPR (adults, children & infants)
- introduction to the AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators)
- how the AED determines a shockable rhythm
- protocols to allow the rescuer to deliver a shock
- built-in safety features
- troubleshooting
- different situations for using an AED
- controlling deadly bleeding
- shock management
- ongoing assessment
- bone and joint injuries
- respiratory problems
- allergic reactions
- seizures
- head & spinal injuries
- diabetic emergencies
Emphasis is also placed on personal protection including using pocket masks for rescue breathing.
Two certificates are awarded on successful completion:
- Basic Plus Renewal; and
- CPR level 'C' Renewal
Pre-requisites:
- Proof of a previous accredited Standard First Aid & CPR'C'course is required in order to attend this course
